On this day, in 1892, J.R.R. Tolkien was born; and with him a future that would enable millions of readers around the world to enjoy and experience the realism of Middle-earth and its inhabitants.
Much is owed to this man of humble origins who, though still firmly rooted to the ground, rose to great prominence and gave an essential contribution to the world – not only in the realms of story-telling, but also academic contributions to the English Language.
