It’s the 22nd of September, the birth dates of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, according to our Middle-earth calendars.

That means it’s officially Hobbit Day!

I love Tolkien-related questionnaires. They’re always so difficult to respond and to pinpoint a specific character of text to like; but they’re fun and a great way to learn about yourself and your love for Middle-earth.

Where have you all been … ?

I’ve been waiting for you to join in my festivities on this blog for over two weeks now! 😉

It’s 22 September and that means two things: Birthdays and Celebrations.

That’s right. If you’re in the loop of who’s who in Middle-earth, then you may or may not know that both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins celebrate their birthday today.

In honour of these two milestones in Middle-earth history, fans worldwide get to celebrate Hobbit Day (and Tolkien Week) in any way possible that demonstrates our love for the fandom.

Hobbit Day & Tolkien Week!

If you think of September as a month that brings an end to the joys of summer, I’d say you’re right (if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, that is).

Schools start, flu & colds re-emerge, the days get shorter and the weather gets more unpredictable.

It also marks the beginning of a long wait until winter, the Festive Season and the release of a particular film …

In short, being in September sucks (though October is probably worse).

Celebrate Hobbit Day!

Just a quick word to remind you folks that today is Hobbit Day!

With yesterday marking publication of ‘The Hobbit’ (way back in 1937), today we celebrate the two titular characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s most famous works.

Tolkien Week is here!

Whether you’re a fanatic of the films, an unflinching Tolkien purist or simply a mixture of both, this should be the best week in an otherwise dull month … (end of summer, rain, strong winds – unless you’re living in the Southern Hemisphere, that is.)
