The kind folks over at TheOneRing.net were given the honour of unveiling the teaser trailer for the upcoming film ‘Tolkien’.
True, there’s not much one can fully appreciate in the 1-minute clip, but it sure got me excited for its release! The visuals truly look captivating, but I’ll reserve my judgement of the film itself once I see it in cinemas.
The Fox Searchlight production stars Nicholas Hoult as a young J.R.R. Tolkien and Lily Collins as a young Edith Bratt, and is directed by directed by Dome Karukoski.
The film will be released in May this year.
Take a look at the trailer below and let us know your thoughts …
It looks like it’s got a lot of elements and I like the look of including some more fantastical scenes, maybe how Tolkien was inspired for some of the elements in “Lord of the Rings.” Definitely a movie I want to see!
Agreed – the slight touches of fantasy scenes look great. Let’s just hope they don’t go overboard with them and keep it subtle.
I fear that those “fantasy” films makes him look schizophrenic… But, all in all, that is a movie I want to see.
I’m sure those scenes are subtle and few & far between in the film. They probably added a couple of those together in the teaser just for effect.
Day-1 Netflix (or Crave) watch for me. (I say that because I’ve essentially reduced any visits to the cinema. Aside from the MCU movies and fantastic Beasts series, there’s not a whole that ‘begs’ me to see something IMMEDIATELY.
A visit to the cinema theatre is rare for me too – but some films are made for such viewing 🙂
I tend to be skeptical of biopics, but this looks very promising!
Oh my word that looks amazing!!! I hope it comes to a theatre near me.
Very excited to see this and hope it meets our very high expectations LOL
I saw the trailer and definitely want to see the film.
One thing though, I thought Tolkien’s friends from the TCBS never made it to Oxford, as they were sadly killed in WW1 (I will have to check).
Good point, though I think it’s not clear in the trailer where they’re meeting. We’ll just have to wait and see 🙂
I was looking at Nicholas Hoult’s Instagram and he posted a picture of him and the other TCBS actors outside the Eagle and Child for a research trip. (Which doesn’t necessarily mean that the film has them together at Oxford, of course.)
I can not wait for this movie to come out.
