It is the 3rd of January, and that means only one thing: the annual toast to celebrate J.R.R. Tolkien’s birth date.
And by “toast” I mean, raise a glass (with some beverage in it) and at 9pm (local time) proclaim the words: ‘The Professor’. Sit down and enjoy the rest of the drink.
It’s a nice way to remember and honour the life and work of the author. Even though we do that throughout the year by reading his books, it is a kind and appreciative acknowledgement in this fast and crazy world we live in.
The Professor.
Now please excuse me while I go fetch a cup and a chair …
The Professor! Long may his works live in our hearts and minds.
Reblogged this on The Kingdom of Memory and commented:
A toast to a defender of the Western Titerary Tradition…
I will definitely do this. 🙂
