Celebrating One Year of Blogging!

Header (One Year)

It’s been exactly one year since I wrote my first post for this blog (‘The Journey Begins!’).

Back then I was uncertain how things would develop and I certainly couldn’t see myself still writing about Tolkien 12 months later.

One Year Image 1 (low-res)When I first started the blog, I had many things to say about Tolkien and the cinematic vision of Middle-earth – however, I always thought that eventually I would run out of subjects!

One year on, not only have I written down a substantial amount of ideas whizzing in my head, but every day I come up with new concepts and issues related to this remarkable author.

Indeed, there’s is yet a long road to venture before this blog starts running on fumes – not to mention, we’re less than half way through to seeing The Battle of the Five Armies in cinemas! 😀

So whilst using this post as both a celebration and a thank you note to all followers, here are some fun (and admittedly geeky) statistics gathered over the past 12 months.

Total Number of followers so far: 597 (thank you!)One Year Image 2 (low-res)

Total Number of Hits: 157,000+

Number of posts posted: 132 (including this one)

Total words written: 111,000+

Total pages written: 288 (hmm, I seem to have the beginnings of a book … or a trilogy 🙂 )

Pending posts/Working Progress: 12

One Year Image 3 (low-res)Finally, this blog wouldn’t be the same without other dedicated bloggers who – time and time again – like, comment, share and link to A Tolkienist’s Perspective. Naming all of them would be pretty impossible, but I’ve highlighted just a few who have always supported this blog and have fantastic blogs of their own.

They’re definitely worth following, trust me!

I’m terrified that I’ve left out many others (I know I have) and to be honest, I was seriously considering not mentioning any blogs.

However, I couldn’t possibly leave out many good-hearted and generous people who spend their time going through my posts, commenting and liking.

To all of you others whom I’ve missed out by mistake, my sincere apologies; but deepest thanks.

To all those unnamed visitors that visit this blog on a daily basis, I say: May you be blessed!

So one year has gone by, another has just started … I guess “I feel I’m quite ready for another adventure!”

  1. Congratulations, and nicely done! I love what you did with the header images. I’m always afraid of leaving people out when I do a post like this, too. 🙂

  2. Those stats are most impressive for a one year mark. Well done, you! I’m always impressed by your insight and thoroughness. Thanks for all your hard work. It’s paying off for sure.
Also, thanks for the shout out. I’ll be sure to check out some of the other blogs.

  3. Wow, thanks for the mention! I’ve loved reading your blog for the past year, and I look forward to reading it much longer. Always pleased to meet a fellow Tolkien nut. 🙂

    1. Yes I know! It’s crazy that already 12 months have passed by … I’m more than happy to praise your fantastic blog 🙂

    1. Your blog has got some real potential and I do hope you keep posting fantastic articles. And thank you for your lovely comments too 🙂

  4. Thank you very much for the mention and also in featuring me in the Blog tour. I reciprocate the favour and say that your blog is always an inspiration and obviously a good read. I actually liek most that you focus on both films and books and make them one. I do not believe in strictly seperating the two media. In addition your astute comments and considerations regarding the source material are what keeps me looking forward to your next post as I frankly don’t have all of Tolkien’s work available, but are very interested in the rich background and its interpretation.

So congrats to your first year, which looking at the number of subscribers was extremely successful and I hope you’ll be at it for many more years, finally resulting in a nice book published by you based on the work on your blog.

  5. Congrats and thank you! You’re blog is actually one-of-a-kind and I always enjoy popping in. Keep up the good work, fight the good fight and I look forward to future posts 🙂
    Ps. cute pics 😉

  6. Sorry James for the late reply, thank you very much for the mention, it means a lot coming from you, and as always you aggrandize my contributions to a level that far surpasses their actual importance. Nonetheless, I appreciate the sentiment.

Lets hope for another year of blogging together!

    Cheers

    1. Agreed! You and I are bound on a journey that will change the very fabric of nature! – (oops sry, quoting Sherlock Holmes there) 😉
